Roofscapes brings specialised expertise in pitched rooftop adaptation, climate resilience and sustainable urban design to MultiRoofs. Founded in 2020 and based in Paris, the startup develops innovative solutions to transform underused pitched roofs by greening, shading and making them accessible, helping cities reduce heat, enhance biodiversity, manage rainwater and create new outdoor spaces. Combining research, advocacy and hands-on implementation, Roofscapes has developed expertise ranging from GIS mapping and thermal studies to rooftop design and stakeholder engagement, with its approach recognised by the 2023 New European Bauhaus Prize and a 2024 ArchDaily award.

Within MultiRoofs, Roofscapes brings a practical perspective on the opportunities and technical challenges of transforming pitched rooftops, contributing to the project’s joint strategy and providing feedback on the Digital Twin to ensure that it responds to real-world needs. In the French pilot, the team works alongside the Île-de-France Region to analyse relevant GIS data, identify rooftops with strong potential for climate and social impact, and connect with property owners, local authorities, developers and construction stakeholders. Roofscapes also shares its experience with regulatory frameworks, financing and community engagement, while contributing to the project’s training activities. Through this combination of technical expertise and practical experience, Roofscapes helps turn rooftop potential into concrete, climate-resilient solutions for cities.
